Image
The attention of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), State Liaising Council (SLC), Kogi State Chapter has been drawn to the suspension of the old student portal and the introduction of a new portal in Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, with an alleged N5,500 portal access fee and other additional charges reportedly imposed on students before accessing the new platform. We, the NAPS SLC Kogi State, strongly condemn this alleged exploitative fee and any additional charges that further impose financial burden on the already struggling Nigerian Polytechnic students, especially in this challenging economic period. As the legitimate voice of all Polytechnic students in Kogi State, we consider this development insensitive, unjust, and anti-student if found to be true. Students should not be made to pay for administrative inefficiencies or portal migration. In this regard, we are working in synergy with NAPS National Secretariat, NANS JCC Kogi State, NAKOSS, SUG Kogi St...

AMID GLOBAL CRUDE OIL PRICE HIKE, DANGOTE REFINERY MAINTAINS STABLE PRICES

Image
At a time when the global crude oil market is experiencing significant price pressures, the decision by Dangote Refinery to maintain stability in the prices of its petroleum products is worthy of commendation. For the ordinary Nigerian, stability in the price of petroleum products means much more than just the price at the filling station. It affects the cost of transportation, food, education, small businesses, logistics and virtually every aspect of daily life. Any significant increase in fuel prices can quickly place additional financial pressure on families and businesses already facing economic challenges. This is why the decision to maintain relatively stable prices at a time of global uncertainty should be appreciated. It offers some relief to Nigerians and demonstrates a sense of responsibility toward the wider economy. We sincerely appreciate the effort to ensure that Nigerians are not unnecessarily exposed to additional hardship whenever there are changes in the interna...

NAPS PRAISES DSS DG'S DEMOCRATIC GESTURE, TASKS SOWORE ON POLICY DEBATE

Image
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) commends the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Tosin Ajayi, and the entire leadership and personnel of the Service for the decision to halt/suspend the ongoing court proceedings involving the Presidential Candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) Mr. Omoyele Sowore until after the 2027 presidential election. NAPS considers this development a significant victory for democracy, political participation and confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions. When a presidential candidate can participate in the political process without credibly accusing security agencies of being used to frustrate his ambition, democracy wins.
