N5,500 PORTAL FEE IS EXPLOITATION: NAPS SLC KOGI STATE VOWS TO RESIST ANTI-STUDENT POLICY IN KOGI POLY
The attention of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), State Liaising Council (SLC), Kogi State Chapter has been drawn to the suspension of the old student portal and the introduction of a new portal in Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, with an alleged N5,500 portal access fee and other additional charges reportedly imposed on students before accessing the new platform.
We, the NAPS SLC Kogi State, strongly condemn this alleged exploitative fee and any additional charges that further impose financial burden on the already struggling Nigerian Polytechnic students, especially in this challenging economic period.
As the legitimate voice of all Polytechnic students in Kogi State, we consider this development insensitive, unjust, and anti-student if found to be true. Students should not be made to pay for administrative inefficiencies or portal migration.
In this regard, we are working in synergy with NAPS National Secretariat, NANS JCC Kogi State, NAKOSS, SUG Kogi State Polytechnic and other relevant student bodies to engage the management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja and other relevant stakeholders to seek immediate clarification and reversal of the said fee where applicable.
We call on the Management of Kogi State Polytechnic to, as a matter of urgency, come out with a clear statement on this matter and prioritize the welfare of students over revenue generation.
We appeal to all students of Kogi State Polytechnic to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while we collectively engage the appropriate authorities. We assure you that NAPS SLC Kogi State will not remain silent on any issue that affects the welfare of Polytechnic students.
We shall communicate the outcome of our engagements to the general student populace as soon as possible.
Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!
