MOHAB URGES KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT TO PRIORITIZE PENSIONERS' GRATUITY.






 The Executive Director of MOHAB People's Care Foundation, Mohammed Abubakar, popularly known as Chukwuemeka, has called on the Kogi State Government to urgently address the lingering issue of unpaid gratuities to genuine retired civil servants in the state.


In a statement released on his social media page, Chukwuemeka expressed deep concern over the plight of pensioners who served the state meritoriously for 35 years before retiring, yet have not received their entitlements years after leaving service.


He lamented that some pensioners have died without receiving their gratuity, while others are battling ill-health but cannot afford medical care due to lack of funds.


According to him, many retirees would have invested their gratuity in small businesses or farming to remain self-reliant and productive in retirement. Instead, they are now forced into hardship, with some resorting to begging to feed.


"These are men and women who dedicated their youthful years and energy to building Kogi State. It is painful to see them abandoned at the time they need the government most," Chukwuemeka stated.


He appealed to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, to treat the payment of pensioners' gratuity as a matter of urgency. 


"We plead with His Excellency, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, to look into this issue and approve the payment of their gratuity without further delay. This will save our fathers and mothers from constant embarrassment and restore dignity to their retirement," he added.


MOHAB People's Care Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the welfare of vulnerable citizens and urged the government to prioritize policies that protect the dignity and well-being of senior citizens in the state.

    This is a timely and compassionate call for justice and dignity for our retired civil servants. These men and women gave the productive years of their lives to serving and building Kogi State, and they deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labour in retirement.

    I strongly support this appeal and urge the Kogi State Government to give the payment of genuine outstanding gratuities the urgent attention it deserves. Prompt action will not only provide much-needed relief to pensioners but also restore hope, dignity and confidence in the system.

    Kudos to MOHAB People's Care Foundation for speaking up for the vulnerable and amplifying the voices of our senior citizens.
