NAPS Decries Kwara, Katsina Attacks, Calls for Urgent Action.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Kwara State and Katsina State.

In a statement issued by its Vice President National Affairs, Comr Usman Ibrahimnyass Dende, NAPS expressed its outrage over the attacks that claimed the lives of over 100 people in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, and over 20 people in Doma community, Tafoki Ward of Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

According to the statement, verified reports indicate that the attacks were carried out between 3 and 4 February 2026, leaving many others seriously injured and forcing survivors to flee their communities. "The attackers reportedly stormed the community in a coordinated assault, unleashing violence on residents, destroying homes, and forcing survivors to flee," the statement read.

Comr Dende condemned the attacks, saying they expose the persistent vulnerability of rural communities to armed criminal groups. "We are appalled by the brutality and senselessness of these attacks, and we stand in solidarity with the affected communities," he said. NAPS called for urgent action to address the security challenges facing the nation and demanded that both the federal and state governments take concrete steps to protect citizens.

"We demand that the government intensify efforts to combat terrorism and banditry, and ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to justice," Comr Dende said. NAPS also called on security agencies to increase patrols and surveillance in vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks.

The statement concluded, "Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and the affected communities. We pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of those injured. "
