NANS JCC Kogi State Commends Governor Ododo for “Agents of Change” Initiative on 2025 International Students Day
Empower Students with thousands of Palliatives, Writing Materials, Fans, Cash as a lead to be Emulated.
In a vibrant celebration of the 2025 International Students Day, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC) Kogi State used the occasion to laud Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for a landmark programme that turned the theme “Empowering Students to Be Agents of Change” into tangible reality.
The event, orchestrated by NANS JCC Kogi State Chairman, Comrade Ojo Samuel Adeoye, brought together more than a thousand students from twelve tertiary institutions across the state, each led by their Student Union Government (SUG) presidents, as well as representatives from secondary schools nationwide. The gathering, held at the Wisdom Event Hall in Lokoja, was a showcase of the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment and students upliftment.
Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo FCA, the Executive Governor of Kogi State was represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the administration’s dedication to turning the youth into catalysts for societal transformation.
Also in attendance were the Honorable Commissioner for Water Resources, the Honorable Commissioner for Education, the Member Representing Ajaokuta, Hon. Jibril Abu, Executive Chairman Lokoja LGA Comr Abdullahi Adamu, Special Adviser on Youths and Women Mobilization Hon Charity Ijese, and several members of the National Working Council of the Kogi State Government. The programme was chaired by the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar.

During the ceremony, Comrade Adeoye highlighted the governor’s recent initiatives, noting that with his own revelation of distributing palliatives, electronic devices, textbooks and scholarships to deserving students. “Governor Ododo has set a new template for what true leadership looks like,” Adeoye said. “His visionary policies have sparked massive innovation and revolution across Kogi State, and today we see the fruits of that vision in the smiles of our students.”
In a passionate appeal to the state government, Adeoye pledged the unwavering support of NANS under his stewardship, while also urging a rollback of the steep tuition hikes that have burdened many of Kogi’s higher institutions. “We stand ready to partner with the government to further empower our youths, but we also ask that the cost of education be made more affordable for the ordinary student,” he added.
The International Students Day celebration concluded with a cultural performance by student groups, a pledge ceremony where beneficiaries recited the “Agents of Change” oath, and a vote of thanks delivered by the Dean of Student Affairs who represent Prof Usman Salisu Ogbo, Rector Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, who praised the collaborative effort between the state government, NANS and educational institutions.
As Kogi State looks forward to the next chapter of its youth development agenda, the message from the event is clear: when students are equipped with the right tools and opportunities, they become the driving force for lasting change.
At the event, personalities and student leaders were celebrated with awards of excellence for their exception service to humanity which has been productive and magnificient towards the growths of kogi state
