Jaiz Bank's Recruitment Practices Under Fire: NAPS Threatens Boycott Over Alleged Marginalization of Polytechnic Graduates
On behalf of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), which represents over 28.1 million Nigerian Polytechnic, Monotechnic and Allied Institutions students nationwide, we write to bring to your urgent attention has sounded the alarm over what it describes as a disturbing trend in Jaiz Bank's recruitment practices, which appears to systematically sideline Higher National Diploma (HND) holders in favor of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree holders. This development has sparked widespread outrage among Polytechnic students and graduates, who feel their qualifications and skills are being unfairly overlooked.
The allegations surrounding Jaiz Bank's recruitment process have been marred by claims of bias, with BSc holders seemingly given preferential treatment over their HND counterparts. This perceived favoritism has fueled concerns about the bank's commitment to meritocracy and exacerbated the longstanding dichotomy between university graduates and those from Polytechnics.
NAPS has warned that if Jaiz Bank fails to address these grievances and revamp its recruitment policies to accommodate HND holders, the association may be compelled to take drastic measures, including calling for a nationwide boycott of Jaiz Bank's services. Such a move could have far-reaching consequences for the bank's operations and reputation.
In light of this, NAPS is giving Jaiz Bank an ultimatum of 7 days to amend its recruitment policies and ensure that all qualified candidates, regardless of their academic background, are given equal opportunities. The association emphasizes that fairness, inclusivity, and meritocracy are essential in fostering a positive and diverse work environment, and Jaiz Bank's practices should reflect these values.
The potential boycott and negative publicity surrounding Jaiz Bank's recruitment practices could have significant implications for the bank's reputation and customer base. The eyes of the nation are on Jaiz Bank, and the bank's response will be closely watched. In a society that values fairness and equality, it is imperative that institutions like Jaiz Bank prioritize meritocracy and inclusivity in their recruitment practices.
