Kogi State House of Assembly Scores Big with NAPS: New Law Restricting Heavy-Duty Trucks in Lokoja Metropolises a Welcome Development

The Vice President, National Affairs of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) Comr Usman Ibrahimnyass Dende commend the Kogi State House of Assembly for passing into law a bill restricting the movement of heavy-duty trucks within Lokoja metropolis. This development is seen as a significant step towards easing traffic congestion and enhancing safety within the state capital, particularly around the road where the state-owned polytechnic is situated.
In a Prees release ealier today, he expressed his gratitude to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, through the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar for this positive initiative.
"This law will go a long way in reducing the risks associated with heavy-duty trucks navigating through our roads, especially around educational institutions," he said.
The restriction of truck movement will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance the safety of students, staff, and residents within the metropolis. "By restricting the movement of these heavy-duty trucks, we can significantly reduce the rate of impromptu accidents caused by these vehicles that often lead to premature deaths among our students," he added.
The passage of this bill into law is a welcome development for the residents of Lokoja and those passing through the environ which serves as intermediary to other states both Northern and Southern part of Nigeria.
Comr Dende added that NAPS looks forward to continued collaboration with the Kogi State Government to promote the interests of students and the broader community.
