COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS - JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL, KOGI STATE AXIS CONVENTION HELD AT KOGI STATE YOUTHS HOUSE, LOKOJA ON 26TH MAY 2025.

 



The convention was declared open by the JCC Chairman, Comr. Gomina Ahmed Kabir.


1. DELIBERATION ON STUDENT-RELATED ISSUES


(a) The congress reaffirms its commitment to the ideals of NANS against fee increments, academic victimization, and oppression of Nigerian students and insecurity in our tertiary institutions across the state and Nigeria at large.


(b) The congress thanked His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo FCA, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for ensuring a peaceful and conducive learning environment for every Nigerian student residing in Kogi State and for the recent bursary awards to Kogi State students across the country and also the recent scholarship awards to Kogi State students who scored above 280 in their JAMB examination.


2. STATE OF NANS


(a) The congress commended the doggedness of the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comr. Olushola Oladoja, for his tremendous sportsmanship since his emergence and for setting the pace and hitting the ground running, which has largely reshaped the image of our dear organization.


(b) The congress lauds the commitment and wisdom of critical stakeholders and leaders in Kogi State in lending their voices to harmonizing all aspirants for a hitch-free 2025 convention.


(c) The congress further mandated the newly elected Executive of NANS-JCC Kogi Axis to immediately swing into action by providing purposeful leadership to Nigerian students in Kogi State while registering their presence in all the campuses across the state.


3. ON THE ELECTION


A total of 8 Senators (SUG Presidents) across the institutions in the state were accredited. They include:

3. Comr. Emmanuel Wisdom

6. Comr. Egwumah Joseph Godfrey,

 (College of Health Sciences Idah)

7. Comr. James Peculiar Adeiza (College of Nursing Obangede)

8. Rtr Comr Moses Alefiya Maji,

(SUG President Kogi State College of Education Ankpa)



Comr. Mamood was elected Convention Chairman by the Senators and immediately took charge of the election. Nominations were made for various positions, followed by endorsement/affirmation by the Senators. The following students contested and won various offices and are to pilot the affairs of KOGI STATE NANS-JCC for the 2025/2026 academic session:

COMMENDATION/APPRECIATION


(a) The Convention Chairman then declared the convention closed with the emergence of the 2025/2026 Executives of the organization, while congratulating the newly elected NANS Joint Campus Council executives and calling for greater collaboration amongst the campuses in the state.


(b) The 2025 convention of NANS JCC Kogi Axis ended with a remark from the Chairman-elect, Comr. Ojo Samuel Adeoye on behalf of other Executives.
