NAPS CONGRATULATES BRIGADIER GENERAL NAFIU OLAKUNLE ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS NYSC DIRECTOR GENERAL, SEEKS RESOLUTION ON HND PART-TIME MOBILIZATION

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) extends its warm congratulations to Brigadier General Nafiu Olakunle on his appointment as the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

This appointment comes at a critical time when the NYSC remains a vital institution for national unity, youth engagement, and capacity building. We have no doubt in the ability of Brigadier General Nafiu Olakunle to provide progressive leadership that will further strengthen the scheme and enhance its impact on young Nigerian graduates.

While congratulating the new NYSC DG, we also call for his urgent intervention in addressing the lingering issue of HND Part-Time graduates’ exclusion from NYSC mobilization. This long-standing policy has placed thousands of polytechnic students at a disadvantage despite their academic achievements and contributions to national development. We believe that every Nigerian graduate, regardless of mode of study, deserves equal recognition and opportunities.

NAPS remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of polytechnic students across Nigeria, and we look forward to working with the new leadership of the NYSC to ensure that policies are fair, inclusive, and beneficial to all.

Once again, we congratulate Brigadier General Nafiu Olakunle and wish him a successful tenure in service to the nation.

Yours in Nation Building,

Comrade Aliyu Omotayo Yusuf, CNPS

Vice President, External Affairs

National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)
