NAPS SLC KOGI STATE MOURNS EX-GOVERNOR ALHAJI IBRAHIM IDRIS WHO DIED AT 77.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), State Liaising Council (SLC), Kogi State, under the leadership of Comr. Adams Jemilat Ohunene (CNPS), has mourned the passing of former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who reportedly died at the age of 77.

In a condolence statement released through the Council's media office on Sunday, the association said it received the news of the demise of the former governor, popularly known as Ibro, with deep shock and sadness.

The Council described the late Ibrahim Idris as a father, statesman and iconic leader who served Kogi State meritoriously and left indelible footprints in the sands of time.

According to the statement, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris served Kogi State for almost nine years, from 2003 to 2012, and his administration witnessed massive infrastructural transformation across the state. His legacies, including the Kogi International Market, Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Confluence Stadium, Greater Lokoja Water Scheme, road projects and huge investments in Kogi State University, Anyigba, remain visible and continue to benefit students and the entire Kogi populace.

The student body noted that the former governor was a detribalized leader known for his politics of inclusion, unity, youth and student empowerment, stressing that his death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill in Kogi politics.

The association further extended its heartfelt condolences to the Idris family, the people of Omala Local Government Area, Kogi East Senatorial District, and the Government and good people of Kogi State under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, FCA.

While praying for the repose of his soul, the Council prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanatul Firdaus and give his family and the state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

May his gentle soul rest in peace, Amin.

Comr. Adams Jemilat Ohunene CNPS,

Chairperson NAPS SLC Kogi State Axis.
