Kogi NANS Stakeholders Inaugurate Campaign Council for Tinubu, Ododo Ahead of 2027 Elections.

Stakeholders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Kogi State have inaugurated a campaign council to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Director-General of the Kogi State NANS Support Group for Tinubu/Ododo Re-election, Comrade Salau Habib Enesi, disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday at OJM Foundation Hall in Lokoja.

Enesi said the campaign council was inaugurated to coordinate grassroots mobilisation across the state with a target of delivering at least 90 percent of the total votes for both leaders in the forthcoming presidential and governorship elections.

According to him, the support group was inspired by what he described as the bold leadership style and reform-driven policies of President Tinubu, as well as the peace-building and inclusive governance approach of Governor Ododo.

He noted that the students’ movement remains one of the most influential youth platforms in Africa, stressing that NANS has for decades served as the authentic voice of Nigerian students across tertiary institutions within and outside the country.

“The strength of NANS lies in its vast structure, numerical strength and influence across campuses and communities. Students are not only voters; they are mobilisers, opinion leaders, digital influencers and community ambassadors who carry the message of political engagement beyond campuses into families and society at large,” he said.

Enesi explained that the campaign council is built on an inclusive structure designed to reflect the diversity and leadership heritage of the Nigerian students’ movement. At the centre of the structure, he said, is the NANS Stakeholders Platform, comprising past and current student leaders who have served the students’ movement at different levels.

He said the group’s declaration of support for Tinubu’s second term was based on what he described as the president’s courage and commitment to economic reforms, strengthening national institutions and laying the foundation for long-term national development.

The NANS leader also cited initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the distribution of CNG buses to student representatives across the country as policies that have helped ease challenges faced by students.

Speaking on Governor Ododo’s administration, Enesi commended the governor for prioritising peace, stability and inclusive governance in Kogi State, adding that his leadership has strengthened unity and political cohesion in the state.

He expressed confidence that the campaign council would effectively mobilise voters across the state to ensure overwhelming victory for the ruling party in the coming elections.

Enesi urged members of the council and party faithful to remain united, intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively toward achieving the target of securing 90 percent of votes in the polls.

He also appreciated key government officials, including the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, the Auditor-General for Local Government and advisers on student affairs, for their support and continued engagement with the student community in Kogi State.
