COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE NANS STAKEHOLDERS FORUM KOGI STATE MEETING
PREAMBLE
The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Kogi State Chapter held a stakeholders forum at the OJN Foundation, Lokoja, on Tuesday, 11th March 2026, at 12pm.
The meeting was preceded by Kogi State NANS Stakeholders Chairman COMR Bashir Umar (CAMP MASTER) which brought together stakeholders, SUG presidents (Senators) from various tertiary institutions in Kogi state, and National Leaders to discuss pressing issues affecting students in Kogi State and way forward along the line.
Also, during the Meeting Press Conference/ Inauguration, it was carried out by the Kogi NANS Stakeholders Forum.
The meeting was graced by top-notch personalities, which includes the Senior Special Assistant To Kogi State Governor On Students Matters Comr. ISAH Emmanuel, the Former Coordinator Of Zone C Senior CDR Habib Salau Enesi, the former Deputy Coordinator NANS Zone C Comr Alooma Idris, the Country Coordinator/Head of Nigeria Young Women of Africa Amb Asmawu Idris, Former NANS Zone C Director on Welfare Comr Hakeemat Ibrahim, Former NANS JCC Chairman Kogi State and Vice President National Affairs Aspirant Comr Otaru Andah, Former NANS JCC Director on Sports Comr Joseph Francis, and Former SUG COE Ankpa Comr Adams Ojonache .

STATE OF CAMPUSES.
The meeting highlighted the deplorable state of campuses in Kogi State, with concerns raised by the NANS JCC Chairman Kogi State Comr Ojo Samuel Adeoye and contributed by SUG Presidents. Key issues discussed included:
- Insecurities: Rising cases of insecurity on campuses, posing a threat to students' safety, most especially, assault and perpetual robberies within and outside the campus environment (Case study of Federal University Lokoja)
Inflations: Rising costs of living, Rentages and commodities, affecting students' welfare (Case studies of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara and Federal University Lokoja)
Water and Electricity Scarcity: the Fundamental Amenities of the Students across campuses become less available due to the total blackout of Electricity and non delivery of water supply in our various campuses in kogi State as been raised by the SUG presidents present
Resolutions from the NANS Stakeholders Forum meeting:
• The Stakeholders Chairman Comr Bashiru Umar (Camp Master) Mandate the NANS JCC Chairman Kogi State together with the National Executive to review those occurrences within Federal University Lokoja mostly and how it can be rectified.
The Stakeholders Mandated the NANS JCC Chairman to go in ward for a courtesy visit with the Commissioner for Police Kogi State on the issue of Insecurities Alarm in our campuses.
Mandated a committee headed by NANS JCC Chairman on the Aspect of Water Scarcity in our campuses for a review.
ENDORSEMENT PRESS CONFERENCE AND INAUGURATION OF KOGI NANS CAMPAIGN STRUCTURE
The forum passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo FCA, for his efforts in redirecting the students' community towards improved welfarism Specifically, his administration's initiatives in:
Mobility: Enhancing students' mobility through improved transportation systems, which is a great remark enhanced by the PBAT / G-OAU Led Administration's mostly especially the provision of the CNG- Buses which has really help the economical aspect of the nation.
Subvention: Providing financial support to students union community through subventions.
Payment of Bursary and Students Free Loans: Ensuring timely payment of bursary to Kogi State Students, most especially the dispensing payment of Three Thousand Naira (#300,000) for law students in Kogi state that are going to law school through the Kogi State Government.
Also, the Coming of the Students Friendly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, brought lifeline to the Education Sector for the commoner through the initiative of the Students Free Loan (NELFUND) to enable them further their studys (High Institutions)
Tuition Fees: Also commend him for the free WAEC for all government authorized institutions in Kogi state.
Salary Payment: The prompt payment of salaries at due time is highly contagious and deserving, which we appreciate him within this Two year stimulated time.
Appointments: The Forum commend them for the appointments of part of the Nigerian comrades into their cabinets. This has shown a 100% inclusiveness of the students' community in their administration.
In addition, the forum appreciate the President Federal Republic of Nigeria for making the former NANS National President Comr Sunday Dayo Asefon as the SSA on Students Engagement.
Having said all that, the Stakeholders Forum with utmost appreciation through the Initiative "Kogi NANS Movement for Ododo/Tinubu Re-election in kogi state for 2027" through a Press Conference on this commendation stating facts and reasons why the Governor Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo FCA and the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR Should be Re-elected coming 2027 and assured the 100% Support of the Nigeria Students.
APPRECIATION AND CALL FOR ACTIONS
The forum commended the leadership of NANS National Secretariat led by the National President Comr Olushola Oladoja for his outstanding efforts shown towards the success of the association under his leadership Hallmark.
In addition, appreciate him for recognising part of the Kogi NANS Stakeholders Forum Members led by the Chairman Comr Bashir Umar as part of the Convention Planning Committees scheduled for May 22nd to 26th 2026 to usher in the new leadership of NANS National.
