BEING A COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE NANS STAKEHOLDERS FORUM KOGI STATE MEETING HELD AT OJN FOUNDATION SECRETARIAT.

 



The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Kogi State Chapter held a stakeholders forum at the OJN Foundation, Lokoja, on Monday 16th February 2026 at 4pm.


The meeting was preside by Kogi State NANS Stakeholders Chairman COMR Bashir Umar (CAMP MASTER) which brought together stakeholders, SUG presidents (Senators) from various tertiary institutions in Kogi state, and National Leaders to discuss pressing issues affecting students in Kogi State and way forward along the line.


In Attendance, the Special Adviser On Youths And Students matter to Governor Of kogi State Hon Oladele John Nihi, Senior Special Assistant To Kogi State Governor On Students Matters Comr. ISAH Emmanuel,  the former NAPS President Comr Mohammed Eneji, The Former Coordinator Of Zone C Senior CDR Habib Salau Enesi, the Country Coordinator/Head of Nigeria Young Women of Africa Amb Asmawu Idris, Former NANS Zone C Director on Welfare Comr Hakeemat Ibrahim, Former NANS JCC Director on Sports Comr Joseph Francis and Former SUG COE Ankpa Comr Adams Ojonache  


State of Campuses.


The meeting highlighted the deplorable state of campuses in Kogi State, with concerns raised by the NANS JCC Chairman Kogi State Comr Ojo Samuel Adeoye. Key issues discussed included:


- Insecurities: Rising cases of insecurity on campuses, posing a threat to students' safety, most especially, assault and perpetual robberies within and outside the campus environment (Case study of Federal University Lokoja)


Inflations: Rising costs of living, Rentages and  commodities, affecting students' welfare (Case studies of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja and Federal University Lokoja)



The followings are Resolutions from the NANS Stakeholders Forum meeting:


• The Stakeholders  Mandate the NANS JCC Chairman Kogi State together with the National Executive to review those occurrences within Federal University Lokoja mostly and how it can be rectified.


That before the Next General Stakeholders Forum meeting,  they shall be Zonal Stakeholders Forum meeting at the three Senatorial Districts in kogi state.



. The forum passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo FCA, for his efforts in redirecting the students' community towards improved welfarism Specifically, his administration's initiatives in:


Mobility: Enhancing students' mobility through improved transportation systems.

Subvention: Providing financial support to students union community through subventions.

- Payment of Bursary: Ensuring timely payment of bursary to Kogi State Students, most especially the dispensing payment of Three Thousand Naira (#300,000) for law students in Kogi state that are going to law school.

Tuition Fees: also commend him for the free WAEC  for all government authorized institutions in Kogi state.

Salary Payment: The prompt payment of salaries at due time is highly contagious and deserving, which we appreciate him within this one year stimulated time.


Proper Representation And Contribution of Nigeria Students to the state and nation at large taken critical recognition of the support and contribution of current Renewed Hope Dispensation of President of federal republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu And Gov Ahmed Usman ODODO, The Stakeholder kogi State chapter initiated KOGI STATE NANS SUPPORT GROUP FOR TINUBU/ODODO as our own in mobilization in the Re-election of President TINUBU And Gov Ododo 2027.


Appreciation 


The State Government for given a Conducive Environment for Tertiary Institution, Secondary Schools And Primary Schools. 


Also, Appreciate Hon Oladele John Nihi for given stakeholders Space at his OJN FOUNDATION SECRETARIAT to held a meeting and for his welfarism during the meeting
