Time for Action: AYCC Calls on Security Agencies to Stem the Tide of Brutal Killings in Kogi
The Arewa Youths Consultative Council (AYCC) Kogi State Chapter is shocked and outraged by the recent brutal killing of Aiyepeku Ayo, a young and promising photographer in Lokoja. This incident is a stark reminder that such heinous crimes continue to plague our metropolis, and it is imperative that immediate action is taken.
The incident, which occurred at a video editing office near the Kogi Chieftency Lodge, close to the Government House, has left the community in trauma and demanding justice. The AYCC Kogi State Chapter condemns this act in the strongest possible terms and calls on the security agencies to swiftly apprehend the suspect, Adebayo Pelumi, a staff member of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
We demand a thorough investigation into the incident and urge the authorities to ensure that justice is served. We are particularly concerned about the brazen nature of this crime, which was allegedly committed by a person entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the law.
If preventive measures are not taken, we fear that such incidents will continue to occur, and our metropolis will become increasingly unsafe. We call on the authorities to take immediate action to address any lapses in the system that may have contributed to this incident.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim and pray for the soul of the departed to rest in peace. We also call on the relevant authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety and security of citizens.
Furthermore, we demand that the Nigerian Correctional Service and other security agencies to takes disciplinary action against the suspect and ensures that he faces the full weight of the law.
