RITUAL KILLING: A BETRAYAL OF FAITH AND HUMANITY

 



ZETSI Africa strongly condemns the heinous and inhumane act of ritual killing. This reprehensible practice is a blatant disregard for human life, a desecration of human dignity, and an affront to the fundamental principles of humanity and religion.


No religion sanctions the taking of innocent lives. In fact, all major faiths emphasize the sanctity of human life, compassion, kindness, and respect for humanity. Ritual killing is not an act of God; it is an act of man's inhumanity to man.


As an organization dedicated to combating social vices, we will not stand idly by while young people are lured into ritual killing by the promise of overnight riches. We urge our youths to reject this destructive path and instead focus on developing their skills, engaging in entrepreneurial activities, and working hard to achieve their goals. These are sure and pure ways to become a peaceful millionaire.


We must not prioritize worldly materials, which are temporary, over the abundant enjoyment of the hereafter. While poverty may be a factor, we refuse to justify ritual killing morally. There is no genuine excuse for taking innocent lives.


We call on the government to improve youth engagement in skills acquisition and empowerment. Community and religious leaders must also play a significant role in addressing this issue. There is an urgent need for cultural re-orientation. Spiritual leaders must regulate their affairs, cushion their public utterances, and avoid flamboyant displays of wealth, which can negatively influence others.


To tackle this menace, ZETSI Africa is planning a national conference of stakeholders to address ritual killing. Let us join forces to create a society that values human life, promotes peace, and upholds the dignity of all individuals. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) Senate President Comr Usman Ibrahimnyass Dende strongly condemns the recent tragic accident along the Felele-Ganaja highway, which claimed the lives of our students. This devastating incident is a stark reminder of the dire need for improved road safety measures in our community. We are deeply saddened by the loss of young lives, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims. However, our condolences are not enough.
