COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING OF THE FORUM OF PAST PRESIDENTS & SENATE PRESIDENTS OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LOKOJA LGA STUDENTS (NALLGS) HELD TODAY, 10TH AUGUST, 2024 @ THE COM. BALA YOUTH HOUSE, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE

 



Earlier today, 10th August, 2024 the meeting of Forum of Past National Presidents & Past Senate Presidents of National Association of Lokoja Local Government Area Students (NALLGS) held @ the Com. Bala Youth House, Lokoja, Kogi State.


The Meeting chaired by the pioneer National President of the Association, Com. Alh. A.D Yaqub who is the current Education Secretary, Lokoja Local Government Education Authority, was attended by Past Presidents and Past Senate Presidents including the current National President and his Senate President. Also in attendance was Prof. Mohammed Abubakar Alabi of Federal University Lokoja who was a President of the Association, Bayero University Kano.


The meeting was summoned by the Forum Chairman to discuss and resolve matters arising from the Students Union Government election held at Federal University Lokoja which had one of the Association's member , Comrade Muhammed Ibrahim, as a Presidential Aspirant.


At the end of the meeting, the following communique was arrived at:


1. All members in attendance agreed that he, Com. Mohammed Ibrahim, who is a 300Level Philosophy Student of Federal University Lokoja, should be commended for daring to contest for the office of the SUG President of the University.


2. That even though it was his right to contest the election, he didn't do due diligence, which would have aided him to victory.


3. That the issue(s) that led to his disqualification is highly regretted and has nothing to do with the University system since from the beginning the criteria was spelt out.


4. The Forum therefore, apologize to the Vice Chancellor, the Dean, Students Affairs and the University Community for any inconveniences caused by our Presidential Aspirant Com. Mohammed Ibrahim, who, admittedly, feels remorseful, has apologized to the members of the Association, his supporters and the University Community publicly and has also gone ahead to congratulate his opponent at the election, which was peacefully conducted.


5. The Forum joined him in apologizing to the University Community as we assured them of a healthy town and gown symbiotic relationship that will be mutually beneficial to both parties.


6. The Forum also appreciate all the current Political leaders from Lokoja LGA headed by the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Umar Aliyu Yusuf, for the supportive roles they played that significantly assisted the aspirant.


7. The Forum resolved and charged itself to, henceforth, ensure thorough due diligence on any of its members aspiring for any position, going forward to avoid a repeat.


8. The Forum charged Lokoja LGA Students and Lokoja LGA Youth to make themselves available to be mentored while at the same time charging the elders to be ready to mentor the younger generation.


9. The Forum enjoined our political office holders at all levels and senior civil servants and blessed private individuals to support the growth of National Association of Lokoja LGA Students (NALLGS) and National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lokoja LGA Chapter by supporting their activities financially and endeavour to grace their events physically.


10.  The Forum specifically encouraged the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akinwumi to continue his policy of inclusivity of Lokoja LGA indigenes in the affairs of the University while pledging it unalloyed support to his administration as it wished him a successful tenure.


11. The Forum appealed to Lokoja LGA indigenes to be calm and accept the outcome of the SUG election in good faith as the priority of the Forum is the successful graduation of the Student and the brighter future ahead.
