BEING A TEST OF COMMUNIQUE AT THE JUST CONCLUDED 6TH NATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NORTH CENTRAL STUDENTS (NANCS) HELD AT NIGER STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, MINNA ON 8TH DECEMBER, 2023

 



GREETINGS. 

The stakeholders, SSAs to the Governor, DG Students, SUG Presidents, JCC Chairmen, Congress, Security agencies here present, Gentle men of the press, Ladies and gentle men, all protocols are duly observed. I want to on behalf of the Convention Planning Committee (CPC) welcome each and every one of you to the 6th National Convention/Election. As the powered bestowed on me as the CPC Chairman ends today, I want to assure you that, we will entrust into capable hands the leadership to steer this election processess as it's enshrined in the sacrosanct constitution. 


ARRIVAL OF DELEGATES/STAKEHOLDERS

Having followed due process in line with the constitutional provisions, Comr. Gabriel Paul Edit emerged as the election chairman while Comr. Mubarak Muhammad Ismail, as secretary, by virtues of the power confered on them, they conducted the election on free, fair and credible. The election chairman invited the representative of the government to deliver his speech and declared the convention open. 


The Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Umaru Mohammed Bago, who was ably represented by the Director General, Students Affairs, Comr. Alh. Bello Barau Sheriff, the DG welcome all the delegates to the power state and thanked the founding fathers and CPC for finding Niger State worthy to host this year's convention, nothing that, the gesture is timely as over 70% of the government appointees are within the youth bracket and were garnered from the students constituency, he further reiterated the government commitment to partner with students at all times. In the end, the DG declared open the elections. 


In the middle of the heated convention, the member representing Paikoro State Constituency, Hon. Pharm. Nasiru, walked in majestically on the directive of the Hon. Speaker of the 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Moh'd Sarkin-Daji, sends his best regards to the delegates and tendered an unreserved apologies for not attending the convention in person, he however, expressed optimism in the students and urge them to maintain decorum during and even after the convention. 



STATE OF THE CAMPUS

The campus where the convention was held, Niger State College of Education, now Engr. A A Kure University of Education was toured by the delegates, headed/led by the Students Union Government, Comr. Sen. Ismail Mohammed along with other prominent stakeholders. The management of the university were commended ensuring and providing a conducive environment for learning and provisions of infrastructures. 


STATE OF THE NATION


The Convention Chairman, who doubles as the Assistant Secretary General of NAN'S National, Comr. Gabriel Paul Edoh urged the Federal Government and President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman to prioritize educational sector, nothing that, education is the bedrock of every nation, for such, it should not be abandoned by every serious government. 



CONVENTION PROPER

The National Convention was well attended by Students Union Government (Senators) across the campuses of the North Central States, after much deliberations and nominations, the following persons emerged as the executives to pilot the affairs of the National body for the next twelve (12) months. 


POSITIONS

Comr. Muhammad Uthman (Fodio) of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University emerged as the President, while Ekwe Samuel Eche emerged Vice President from the Benue State University, Markurdi, Shaddai Igiri Okpambe, of Uniport, Assistant Secretary General, Blessing Ogbole of University Of Jos, Senate President, Baba Hadiza, Deputy Senate President from Prince Audu University, Ayingba. 



Other National executives includes; Comr. Usman Ibrahim Nyass Dende, National Secretary General, from Federal Polytechnic Idah,  Comr. Aminu Shuaibu, Director of Social from Usman Danfodio University, UDUS affiliated with COE Minna and Comr. Gabriel Gideon Abecho, Financial Secretary from Isah Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic Lafia, Nasarawa State, respectively. 


APPRECIATIONS. 

Similarly, in his speech, the outgone President, Comr. Joseph Oguche, thanked the founding fathers and stakeholders of the organization for the support thus far; nothing that he owes them a lot and was indebted to them. He further Stressed drawed the attention of the government to support the new leadership of NANCIS so as to meet up with the association's core mandate and value. 



In the same vein, the National President elect, Comr. Muhammad Uthman Fodio, "expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the resound victory after days of unsleepness night campaigns and consultations, hitherto call on the federal, state, local as well as stakeholders in educational sector to make it their prioritize, as nation ever thrive in occasion of the backdrop of this critical sector, however, he pledged to run an all inclusive administration that will benefit Nigerian students". 


Similarly, the President elect, appealed to security agencies to safeguard our campuses across the North Central States and the country at large, nothing that, it's only way to allow the students enjoy their academics to be conducive for learning. I thank youost sincerely for listen and I pray that, may you all return back to your various destinations safe.
